30 by 30 (or 30x30) is a worldwide initiative for governments to designate 30% of Earth's land and ocean area as protected areas by 2030. The target was proposed by a 2019 article in Science Advances "A Global Deal for Nature: Guiding principles, milestones, and targets", highlighting the need for expanded nature conservation efforts to mitigate climate change. Launched by the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People in 2020, more than 50 nations had agreed to the initiative by January 2021, which has increased to more than 100 countries by October 2022, including Australia. 30 by 30 will be discussed at the COP15 meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity. This includes the G7 and European Union.

  • 30x30 mundu mailako ekimena da, gobernuek Lurraren eta Ozeanoen azaleraren %30 2030erako eremu babestutzat izenda dezaten. Helburua 2019ko artikulu batek proposatu zuen Science-n "A Global Deal for Nature", eta klima-aldaketa arintzeko natura kontserbatzeko ahaleginak handitu beharra nabarmendu zen. 2020rako abian jarria, 50 naziok baino gehiagok onartu zuten ekimena 2021eko urtarrilean, eta urte bereko urrian 70 nazio baino gehiagotara zabaldu zen. 30x30 . bileran sustatu zen. Horrek G7 eta Europar Batasuna barne hartzen ditu. Indigena eskubideen inguruko eztabaida piztu du ekimenak. (eu)
