- Adolf Born (12 June 1930 – 22 May 2016) was a Czech painter, illustrator, filmmaker and caricaturist, "known for his murkily-tinted pictures of bizarre fauna, and Victorian gentlemen in top hats and top coats". In recognition of his lasting contribution as a children's illustrator, Born was a finalist for the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2008. His various international rewards and honors also include the Grand Prix at the International Salon of Cartoons in Montreal and the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France. (en)

Jego domeną była grafika: sucha igła, akwaforta i przede wszystkim litografia. Współtwórca animowanego obrazu zrealizowanego na podstawie książki J.R.R. Tolkiena w 1966 roku. - Adolf Born, né le 12 juin 1930 à České Velenice (Tchécoslovaquie) et mort le 22 mai 2016 à Prague (République tchèque). Il est un graphiste, peintre, caricaturiste, animateur, réalisateur de films d'animation et illustrateur de livres tchèques. De 1949 à 1950, il a étudié à la faculté de pédagogie de l'université Charles de Prague. En 1950-1955, il étudie à l'Académie des arts, de l'architecture et du design de Prague. Adolf Born était l'élève du professeur Antonín Pelc à cette école. Immédiatement après l'obtention de son diplôme, il a commencé à se consacrer au dessin animé. (fr)
