- Alfred Gottschalk (Aquisgrán, 22 de abril de 1894–Tubinga, 4 de octubre de 1973) fue un bioquímico alemán. Abandonó Alemania antes del estallido de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, trasladándose a Australia, donde se nacionalizó británico; no retornaría a su país natal hasta 1963. Fue autor de The chemistry and biology of sialic acids and related substances (Cambridge University Press, 1960) y Glycoproteins, their composition, structure, and function (Elsevier Publishing Company, 1966). - Alfred Gottschalk (22 April 1894 – 4 October 1973) was a German biochemist who was a leading authority in glycoprotein research. During his career he wrote 216 research papers and reviews, and four books. In 1923 he married Lisbeth Berta Orgler; together they had one son. They separated in 1950. At the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute Gottschalk collaborated with Frank Macfarlane Burnet. They discovered neuraminidase. He was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 1954. He died in Tübingen on 4 October 1973. (en)
