| - Àndrocles (grec: Ἀνδροκλῆς) és el nom donat per algunes fonts a un esclau d'un cònsol romà. Aulus Gel·li, qui esmenta com a font Apió Plistonices, que afirmava haver-ne estat testimoni, n'explica la història. Està inclosa a la classificació Aarne-Thompson com a tipus 156. El relat va reaparèixer a l'edat mitjana com a "El pastor i el lleó" atribuint-lo en aquella època, erròniament, a Isop (en els reculls de faules del qual és inclòs sovint). - Androcles (Greek: Ἀνδροκλῆς, alternatively spelled Androclus in Latin), is the main character of a common folktale about a man befriending a lion. The tale is included in the Aarne–Thompson classification system as type 156. The story reappeared in the Middle Ages as "The Shepherd and the Lion" and was then ascribed to Aesop's Fables. It is numbered 563 in the Perry Index and can be compared to Aesop's The Lion and the Mouse in both its general trend and in its moral of the reciprocal nature of mercy. (en)

- Androcles e o Leão é um conto popular comum que está incluído no Sistema de classificação de Aarne-Thompson, como tipo 156. A história reapareceu na Idade Média como "O Pastor e o Leão" e foi então atribuída a Esopo. O conto está numerado son o número 563, no Índice de Perry, podendo ser comparado à fábula “O Leão e o Rato”, de esopo, tanto pela sua tendência geral, como pela sua moral sobre a reciprocidade da misericórdia. Oscar Wilde também escreveu uma versão desta história, intitulada "A Verdadeira história de Androcles e o Leão", em que a inversão do final da história pode ser interpretada como uma crítica à moralidade das fábulas face às ironias da vida. - Androclès était un esclave romain. On raconte qu'ayant été livré aux bêtes dans le Grand cirque de Rome pour s'être enfui de chez son maître, proconsul d'Afrique, il fut reconnu et épargné par un lion. En s'échappant de chez son maître et en s'enfuyant dans le désert, il aurait guéri l'animal et aurait vécu avec lui. Livré aux fauves, il devait mourir. Cependant, le lion le reconnut et lui montra des signes d'affection. L'empereur, apprenant cette explication de la bouche d'Androclès, le gracia et lui fit cadeau du lion. Androclès le promena en laisse dans toute la ville, recevant de l'argent des passants. (fr)
