The album title refers to the New York City subway stop where Rothberg used to busk. The album artwork was painted by Rothberg. Between the 1 and the 9 peaked at No. 83 on the UK Albums Chart. The first single was "Inside", which was a minor alternative rock radio hit. Rothberg promoted the album by touring with Primitive Radio Gods, among others.
