Board track racing was a type of motorsport popular in the United States during the 1910s and 1920s. Competition was conducted on circular or oval race courses with surfaces composed of wooden planks. This type of track was first used for motorcycle competition, wherein they were called motordromes, before being adapted for use by various different types of racing cars. The majority of the American national championship races were contested at such venues during the 1920s.

  • Board track race is een vroege vorm van motorsport. Het ging om races die in het begin van de twintigste eeuw in de Verenigde Staten werden gereden op houten wielerbanen. Dit was een zeer gevaarlijke sport. De motoren hadden geen remmen en het gas stond altijd open. Ze konden slechts vertraagd worden door een "killswitch", een zaagblad dat met de knie tegen de ontstekingsmagneet geduwd werd om kortsluiting te maken. Een kluit modder tussen dit zaagblad en de magneet kon dus ernstige gevolgen hebben. (nl)
