Drdo Bund Blasting Device (BBD) is a man-portable embankment blasting device, designed and developed in India by Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Chandigarh of Defence Research and Development Organisation. A hollow charge initiation device and a main HE-filled projectile attached to a rocket motor make up the system. On initiation, the hollow charge forms a deep pilot hole. When the HE projectile enters this hole, it explodes, generating a large crater that meets the criterion. To remove/lower the height of bunds, a series of these devices are used to achieve the desired result in the least amount of time possible.

In August 2014 the DRDO completed a user-assisted technical trials of the Bund Blasting Device Mk.II . The Army's 120 Engineering Regiment conducted the successful tests at the Ramgarh range. The new BBD is believed to be twice as effective as the Mk.I version, using half the number of devices to get the same result. Before the Mk.II is deemed operational and handed over to the military forces and production agencies, a few additional tests are scheduled. (en)
