- Comturist was the name of the hard currency luxury shops that existed in Communist Romania, managed by the Ministry of Tourism. After the 1989 Romanian revolution, these stores became obsolete and were sold off in 1991 to private business owners; as a result of this sale by auction, the Comturist name is still in existence today in a more limited capacity as a chain of duty-free stores. Dopo la rivoluzione del 1989, tali negozi divennero obsoleti e furono venduti all'asta nel 1991 a commercianti privati. Il marchio Comturist è presente ancora oggi come una catena di duty-free. Oggi la Comturist SA, è un'azienda privata posseduta dagli ex imprenditori comunisti nata nel settembre del 1990 che ha comprato il resto della vecchia catena comunista nelle aste del marzo 1991. | - كومتوريست كان اسما لمتاجر فاخرة لجلب العملة الصعبة تواجدت في رومانيا الشيوعية، كانت تدار بواسطة وزارة السياحة الرومانية. بعد الثورة الرومانية، عفا علي تلك المتاجر الزمن وبيعت في 1991 الي رجال أعمال محليين خلال مزاد علني، اسم العلامة التجارية كومتوريست لا يزال موجودا حتي الآن لكن بشكل محدود كسلسة متاجر سوق حرة. في عام 1977, كان يتواجد حوالي 200 متجر في رومانيا يحمل اسم كومتوريست، تواجدت بشكل رئيسي في المدن الكبيرة والأماكن السياحية. متاجر كومتوريست كانت موجودة خصيصا لتوفير سلع كان لا يسمح ببيعها أو تداولها بسبب الاتجاه السائد في الاقتصاد الروماني الشيوعي انذاك. الواردات الأتية من دول المعسكر الغربي كأوروبا الغربية وامريكا الشمالية واليابان كانت تباع في تلك المتاجر، مثل الكحوليات، التبغ، العطور، الاحذية، الملابس، الراديو، التلفزيونات، الالات الحاسبة، وفي الثمانينات، توسعت كومتوريست وبدأت في بيع الحواسيب الشخصية. التذكرات الرومانية عالية الجودة كانت تباع أيضا مثل فراء الخراف، المشغولات اليدوية، الأزياء الشعبية وتسجيلات للموسيقي الشعبية. في الأصل، كانت متاجر كومتوريست موجهة للأجانب، وكانت تحتاج الي اظهار جواز السفر للتمكن من اتمام عمليات الشراء بها، لكن مؤخرا مع بداية عقد الثمانينات، سمح لكل المشترين الذين لديهم عملة صعبة بالشراء من المتاجر (التي كان لا بد من وجود تصريح بامتلاكها ولا يمكن الحصول عليها إلا من خلال العمل المنجز في الغرب أو عن طريق التحويلات من الأقارب الأجانب). كومتوريست أس آيه (Comturist SA), هي ملكية خاصة لرواد أعمال نخبويين تحولوا من الشيوعية للرأسمالية، تم تأسيسها في سبتمبر 1990 واستحوذت علي بقايا سلسلة متاجر كومتوريست خلال عمليات الخصخصة في مارس 1991. كومتوريست طرحت اسهمها للتداول في في 2004. - Comturist was the name of the hard currency luxury shops that existed in Communist Romania, managed by the Ministry of Tourism. After the 1989 Romanian revolution, these stores became obsolete and were sold off in 1991 to private business owners; as a result of this sale by auction, the Comturist name is still in existence today in a more limited capacity as a chain of duty-free stores. About 200 Comturist stores were in existence in Romania by 1977, mainly in the largest cities and tourist areas. The Comturist stores existed explicitly to offer items that were not allowed to be sold in the then mainstream Romanian socialist economy. Imports from western Europe, North America, and Japan were sold in these shops, such as alcohol, tobacco, perfume, shoes, clothing, radios, televisions, calculators, and by the 1980s, personal computers. High-quality Romanian souvenirs were also sold, such as sheepskin, handicrafts, folk costumes, and folk music records. Originally the Comturist stores were geared toward foreign visitors, with a passport being required to visit them, but by the 1980s the requirement changed to allow any shopper who held foreign currency (which had to be declared and could only be procured via work done in the West or by remittances from foreign relatives). Comturist SA, a private entity owned by former Communist elites-turned-capitalist entrepreneurs, was formed in September 1990 and bought off some of the remnants of the old Comturist chain in the March 1991 auctions. Comturist started trading on the Bucharest Stock Exchange in 2004. (en)

I Comturist offrivano quei prodotti che non potevano essere venduti all'interno dell'economia socialista romena, tra cui le importazioni dall'Europa occidentale, Nord America e Giappone che comprendevano alcolici, tabacco, profumi, scarpe, vestiti, radio, televisori, calcolatrici e negli anni ottanta anche i personal computer. Venivano venduti anche souvenir romeni di alta qualità come pelli di pecora e montone, prodotti artigianali, abiti tradizionali e registrazioni di musica folkloristica. Originariamente i negozi Comturist erano riservati ai visitatori stranieri e per accedervi era necessario mostrare il passaporto, ma negli anni ottanta furono cambiati i requisiti, permettendo l'accesso a qualunque cliente in possesso di valuta forte straniera (tale possesso doveva essere dichiarato e doveva esser stato ottenuto solamente dal lavoro svolto in occidente o tramite le rimesse di parenti all'estero).
