De pictura (English: "On Painting") is a treatise or commentarii written by the Italian humanist and artist Leon Battista Alberti. The first version, composed in Latin in 1435, was not published until 1450. It is one of his three treatises on art; the other two are De statua and De re aedificatoria, that would form the Renaissance concept for the fine arts: painting, sculpture, and architecture.

Esta obra tuvo poca circulación, motivo por el cual fue publicada nuevamente; esta vez en fiorentino vernacular y con dedicatoria a Filippo Brunelleschi en el 17 de julio de 1436 . Con posterioridad, entre los años 1438 y 1444, se corrige el texto latino para ofrecerlo al príncipe Giovanni Francisco Gonzaga, a partir de este texto corregido se hacen numerosos manuscritos, la mayoría en latín y con algunas alteraciones. C'est le premier opus de sa trilogie de traités des arts majeurs qui a été largement diffusée pendant la Renaissance, il fut suivi par De re aedificatoria (1454) et De statua (1462).
