Agensi ini mengatur sistem IT berskala-besar dan terintegrasi dengan tugas antara lain: 1. * Memelihara keamanan internal dalam negara-negara Uni Eropa; 2. * Memungkinkan negara-negara anggota Schengen untuk saling bertukar data; dan 3. * Menentukan negara mana dalam Uni Eropa yang bertanggung-jawab untuk memeriksa pengajuan suaka.
