Four Year Plan (Polish: Plan Czteroletni) was a short-term national investment plan, created by Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski, deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Treasury in the government of the Second Polish Republic. The plan, which came into existence on July 1, 1936, foresaw expansion of infrastructure, increase in the defensive abilities of Poland, preparation of foundations for future expansion of Poland’s industry, and activization of the Old-Polish Industrial Region, the oldest industrial region of the country. Plan Czteroletni miał zapewnić wzrost eksportu, zmniejszenie bezrobocia, polepszenie zaopatrzenia dla wojska. Najważniejszym założeniem była walka ze skutkami wielkiego kryzysu, doprowadzenie do trwałego ożywienia gospodarczego w II RP oraz uzyskanie niezależności gospodarczej przez państwo polskie. Realizacja Planu Czteroletniego rozpoczęła się w lipcu 1936 roku i miała trwać do czerwca 1940 roku. Planowane wydatki na realizację planu miały wynieść 1,8 miliarda ówczesnych złotych, a osiągnęły 2,4 miliarda. Państwowa propaganda podała, że Plan Czteroletni został wykonany w 3 lata, w rzeczywistości jednak wykonany został w ok. 80%, przy czym te 20% było niezbędne do tego, by samodzielnie działało ok. 50% inwestycji. Równocześnie budowano osiedla mieszkalne dla robotników z całą własną infrastrukturą. Skutkiem realizacji planu było powstanie zakładów przemysłu zbrojeniowego, lotniczego, chemicznego; tworzono huty, walcownie, zakłady produkcji gumy i kauczuku. Głównymi miejscami realizacji były COP i Gdynia oraz Warszawski Okręg Przemysłowy. (pl)
