The Haar (German pronunciation: [ˈhaːɐ̯]) or Haarstrang is a ridge of hills on the southern edge of the Westphalian Basin in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. From a natural region perspective it is the southern, submontane part of the Hellweg Börde, which stands opposite the northern area of the Süder Uplands (which is the natural region of the Sauerland), north of the Möhne and Ruhr rivers.

Naturräumlich stellt er den submontanen Südteil der Hellwegbörden dar, der nördlich von Möhne und Ruhr dem Norden des Süderberglandes gegenübersteht. Die höchste Erhebung ist mit 391 m ü. NHN die , die sich bei Rüthen-Hemmern am östlichen Ende des Haarstrangs befindet. Weiter westlich erreicht der Kamm des Höhenzuges meist Höhen um 200 bis 250 m ü. NHN und erhebt sich somit etwa 100 bis 150 m über Ruhr- und Möhnetal im Süden sowie über das durch Oberen und Unteren Hellweg, beides ebenfalls Teile der Hellwegbörden, separierte Tal der Lippe im Norden. Der rund 300 km² umfassende Haarstrang ist durchweg landwirtschaftlich geprägt und hat seinen ländlichen Charakter auch im westlichsten Teil, der den Südosten von Dortmund und Teilgemarkungen anderer Ruhrgebietsstädte einnimmt, bewahrt. Further west the crest of the ridge reaches heights of generally 200 to 250 m above sea level (NN) and rises to about 100 to 150 m over the Ruhr and Möhne valleys in the south as well as the valley of the Lippe in the north separated by the Upper and Lower Hellweg, both parts of the Hellweg Börde.
