The Healthy Life Years (HLY) indicator, also known as disability-free life expectancy or Sullivan's Index, is a European structural indicator computed by Eurostat. It is one of the summary measures of population health, known as health expectancies, composite measures of health that combine mortality and morbidity data to represent overall population health on a single indicator. HLY measures the number of remaining years that a person is expected to live at a certain age without the disability.

Pro muže je v Česku tato hodnota při narození zhruba o 15 let nižší než střední délka života a pro ženy o 20 let (tedy pro obě pohlaví je HLY přibližně rovno 62 letům). Ovšem s postupným stárnutím se (již od dětství) hodnota zbývající zdravé délky života postupně přibližuje k hodnotě zbývající střední délky života; ve středním věku je rozdíl přibližně poloviční. Pak HLY při dožitých 65 let (přibližně starobní důchod) již posouvá hranici života prožitého ve zdraví téměř na 74 let (po dožitém věku 65 let pak zdravé období tvoří přibližně polovinu období dožití). En Europe et Amérique du Nord il n'y a pas de lien direct et général entre incapacité et espérance de vie ; ainsi bien que mesurant l'incapacité de différente manières, toutes les études montrent que les femmes développent plus d'incapacité que les hommes, mais qu'elles vivent néanmoins plus âgées.
