- O hífen-menos é o caracter da posição 2DHEX da tabela ASCII e outros padrões que derivem dela. É usado como hífen, sinal de menos e como travessão. Foi uma concessão que fez sentido no início do uso de máquinas de escrever e monitores de computador de mas que produz resultados de baixa qualidade sob o ponto de vista tipográfico. Entretanto seu uso persiste até hoje pois é fácil de digitar em teclados comuns, conhecido por todos e tem o mesmo código em todas as codificações de caracteres comuns. (pt)
- Bindestreck‐minus (-) (engelska: hyphen-minus) är ett tecken i Unicode och en tangent på tangentbordet. Tecknet ersätter bindestreck (‐), tankstreck (–) och minustecken (−) när dessa inte finns tillgängliga och är alltså ett substituttecken enligt Unicode. (ASCII saknar alternativ.) I vissa typografiska sammanhang kan ett dubbelt bindestreck-minus (--) ersätta tankstreck. - Il trattino-meno (in inglese hyphen-minus) è un carattere che si trova alla posizione 2DHEX nella codifica ASCII e negli standard che ne sono derivati. Viene usato come lineetta, segno meno e tratto d'unione. Questo fu un compromesso che aveva senso nelle prime macchine per scrivere a spaziatura fissa e nei primi computer ma viene considerato inelegante in una corretta scrittura del testo. Nonostante ciò il suo uso persiste in quanto facile da inserire tramite la tastiera, ben conosciuto e nella stessa posizione in tutti i più comuni set di caratteri. (it)
