John Jay Phelps (October 25, 1810, at Simsbury, Connecticut – May 12, 1869, Simsbury, Connecticut) was an early railroad baron and financier, who was one of the founders of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad and served as its first president. He was also a publisher, judge, and merchant.
