The Triple Crown of Motorsport is an unofficial achievement for motor racing drivers that is generally regarded as winning motorsport's three most prestigious races. The annual events are the 24 Hours of Le Mans automobile endurance race that occurs at the Circuit de la Sarthe, the Indianapolis 500 that is held to American open-wheel car racing rules at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval track, and the Monaco Grand Prix street circuit race for Formula One cars at the Circuit de Monaco. The Indianapolis 500 was first introduced in 1911, followed by the first 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923 and the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix in 1929. • The Triple Crown of Motorsport is an unofficial achievement for motor racing drivers that is generally regarded as winning motorsport's three most prestigious races. It is rare for racing drivers to enter all three Triple Crown events in the same year since there is a calendar clash with the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix. No trophy is awarded to the driver who completes the Triple Crown of Motorsport. As of 2022, 253 drivers from 23 different countries have won a Triple Crown race. Tom Kristensen, with nine victories, has won the most Triple Crown events. Graham Hill is in second with seven wins and both Jacky Ickx and Ayrton Senna are third with six victories each. Kristensen has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans more than any other driver with nine victories. Hélio Castroneves, A. J. Foyt, Rick Mears and Al Unser hold the record for the most Indianapolis 500 victories with four each. Senna holds the record for the most Monaco Grand Prix wins with six. There have been 19 drivers who have participated in all three Triple Crown races and won at least one. No one has won all three Triple Crown races in a calendar year and only Hill has won all three. Fernando Alonso, Foyt, Bruce McLaren, Juan Pablo Montoya, Tazio Nuvolari, Jochen Rindt and Maurice Trintignant are the seven drivers to have won two of the three Triple Crown events. Of those seven, only Montoya has achieved victory in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix while Alonso, McLaren, Nuvolari, Rindt and Trintignant have won both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix and only Foyt has won both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500.
