| - ماثورن بريسون (بالفرنسية: Mathurin Jacques Brisson) (30 أبريل 1723=23 يونيو 1806) عالم أحياء فرنسي وفيلسوف في الطبيعية.ولد في إحدى بلديات فرنسا.بدأ دراسته بالتاريخ الطبيعي ثم أصبح عضو الأكاديمية الفرنسية للعلوم سنة 1759.وبعد وفاة زميله في العمل هجر التاريخ الطبيعي تحول إلى أستاذ للفلسفة الطبيعية في نابرة ثم في باريس.كما ساهم في التصنيف العلمي للأحياء حين وضع الحيتانيات كأصنوفة فاستحق بذلك اختصارا خاصا به ضمن الاسم العلمي.واختصاراسمه هو بريسون. V oblasti zoologie je nejproslulejší jeho šestidílná práce Ornitologia z let 1860–1863. Systém klasifikace ptáků, který zde vytvořil, byl užíván téměř sto let. Rozlišil 26 řádů a 115 rodů. Když mu bylo znemožněno věnovat se dále zoologii, byl jmenován profesorem fyziky („přírodní filozofie“) na univerzitách v a v Paříži. (cs)

Wczesne lata życia spędził na obserwowaniu przyrody. Pierwsze prace naukowe opublikował w 1756 (Le Re`gne animal) i 1760 (Ornithologie) roku na ramach czasopisma Leiden. W 1759 roku został członkiem Francuskiej Akademii Nauk (fr. Académie des sciences). Po śmierci R. A. F. Reaumura, którego był asystentem, został profesorem filozofii przyrody w hiszpańskim Navarre, a później Paryżu. W tym czasie napisał kilka prac naukowych i książek, w tym Pesanteur Spécifique des Corps z 1787 roku. Zmarł w koło Paryża. (pl)

Han sysslade först med naturhistoria och skrev flera skrifter, till exempel Regnum animale (1756–62) och Ornithologia (1760). Efter 1757 blev Brisson professor för naturfilosofi, först i och senare i Paris. Hans främsta verk i detta ämne var Pesanteur spécifique des corps (1787). The earlier part of his life was spent in the pursuit of natural history; his published works in this field included Le Règne animal (1756) and the highly regarded Ornithologie (1760). A significant work involving the "specific weight of bodies" was his Pesanteur Spécifique des Corps (1787). In his investigations of electricity, Brisson was opposed to the theories of Priestley and Franklin. (en)
