| - Die Operativo afianzamiento de la soberanía (spanisch Operation Sicherung der Souveränität), kurz Operation Soberanía, war eine von Argentinien gegen Chile vorbereitete militärische Invasion zur Eroberung des Beagle-Kanals. Sie wurde am 22. Dezember 1978 gestartet, aber wenige Stunden später abgebrochen. Diese Eskalation des Beagle-Konflikts seitens Argentiniens wird als einer der Gründe für die Unterstützung des Vereinigten Königreiches durch Chile während des Falklandkriegs angesehen. (de)

The invasion was initiated on 22 December 1978 but was halted after a few hours and Argentine forces retreated from the conflict zone without a fight.
