Orlandus Wilson (August 27, 1917 in Chesapeake, Virginia – December 30, 1998 in Paris) was one of the longest standing members of the Golden Gate Quartet and the group's bass singer. He joined the Golden Gate Jubilee Singers in 1934 and only announced his retirement from the quartet in October 1998. Apart from a forced break in 1944 when he was drafted and temporarily replaced by , Wilson supplied the basis for the quartet. Wilson managed the formation, and supplied a majority of the arrangements and some compositions. His rhythmic feel has been said to be essential to the group's "jump, glide, bounce and swing".

Z czasem Ford odszedł z grupy i Orlandus Wilson pozostał w niej do śmierci w 1998. Miał jedynie 2-letnią przerwę od 1943 do 1945 roku, kiedy to służył w armii amerykańskiej. Ein Kritiker nannte das eine geist-erfüllte Musik für Körper und Seele. Ein anderer attestierte einen Sinn für Timing und Synkopierung als Grundlage für "jump, glide, bounce and swing". Außer als Bassist wirkte Wilson auch als Leader und ab den 70er Jahren zusammen mit seiner Frau Gun Wilson als Manager der Gruppe und zeichnete für die vierstimmigen Gesangsarrangements verantwortlich, die zum Vorbild für viele anderen Quartette und Quintette sowohl des Black wie des White Gospel werden sollten. Das Arrangement von "Swing Down, Sweet Chariot", eine Abwandlung von "Swing Low", wurde auch für Chöre adaptiert und ist bis heute beliebt als eine swingende Gospelnummer, die die frohe Botschaft auch als eine fröhliche herüberbringt. 1971 trat im Zuge der häufigen Fluktuationen Wilsons Großneffe Paul Brembly dem Golden Gate Quartett bei. Brembly ersetzte die unvergesslich meisterhafte Narritive-Stimme von Caleb Ginyard. Dieser gehörte der wohl stärksten und erfolgreichsten Formation dieses Ensembles zwischen 1955 und 1971 an. (de)
