Edith Pauline Alderman (January 16, 1893 – October 11, 1983) was an American musicologist and composer. She was the founder and the first Chairwoman of the Department of Music History and Literature (musicology) at the University of Southern California, between 1952 and 1960.

(en) Pauline Alderman (* 16. Januar 1893 in Lafayette, Oregon; † 11. Oktober 1983 in Los Angeles) war eine US-amerikanische Musikwissenschaftlerin und Komponistin. Alderman erhielt in ihrer Jugend eine Ausbildung im Klavier- und Orgelspiel sowie in englischer und deutscher Literatur. Seit 1916 unterrichtete sie englische Literatur an der Junior High School von McMinnville. Seit 1918 unterrichtete sie Geschichte und Musik in Portland und besuchte im Sommer Musikkurse an der University of California in Berkeley. Sie wurde dann Schülerin von , bei der sie zwischen 1920 und 1923 studierte, während sie gleichzeitig an der Ellison-White-School, einem neu gegründeten Konservatorium in Portland, unterrichtete.
