The Paulinum is a university building of University of Leipzig, whose construction began in 2007. Today's Paulinum stands at the site of the old university church, the Paulinerkirche, which was destroyed in 1968 during the communist regime of East Germany.

Das Paulinum als universitätseigenes Gebäude vereinigt unter seinem Dach sowohl wissenschaftliche Institute als auch die Universitätskirche. Von dieser kann die Aula durch einen transparenten Raumteiler (Glaswand) abgetrennt werden. Die Fertigstellung des Gebäudes war ursprünglich für das Jubiläumsjahr der Universität 2009 geplant, war bis dahin aber nur zum Teil realisiert. Zur 600-Jahr-Feier im Dezember 2009 war letztlich nur der Rohbau zugänglich. Bis zum Bauabschluss 2017 stiegen die Kosten für den Neubau auf insgesamt 117 Millionen Euro und haben sich damit somit im Vergleich zur ursprünglichen Planung verdoppelt. Das angrenzende Augusteum ist seit Sommersemester 2012 in Benutzung. Die offizielle Einweihung des Paulinums fand in einem dreitägigen Festakt vom 1. bis 3. Dezember 2017 anlässlich des 608. Jubiläums der Universität Leipzig statt. (de)

Para la celebración del 600 aniversario en diciembre de 2009, al final solo se pudo acceder a la concha. Al final de la construcción en 2017, el costo de la nueva construcción aumentó a un total de 117 millones de euros y, por lo tanto, se duplicó en comparación con la planificación original. El Augusteum adyacente ha estado en uso desde el semestre de verano de 2012. - The Paulinum is a university building of University of Leipzig, whose construction began in 2007. Today's Paulinum stands at the site of the old university church, the Paulinerkirche, which was destroyed in 1968 during the communist regime of East Germany. The building was designed by award-winning architect Erick van Egeraat. The Paulinum contains the university's assembly hall with an oratory, as well as rooms of the faculties for information science and mathematics. The assembly hall, which was erected on exactly the same site as the old university church, exhibits figures and other objects from Paulinerkirche and offers a room of common prayer. The University of Leipzig is one of the few German universities which retains the tradition of having its own university chapel, a tradition dating back for over 500 years. The facade of the Paulinum features collegiate gothic architecture as a commemoration of the original building.
