Richard Wagamese (October 14, 1955 – March 10, 2017, Ojibwe) was an author and journalist from the Wabaseemoong Independent Nations in Northwestern Ontario. He was best known for his novel Indian Horse (2012), which won the Burt Award for First Nations, Métis and Inuit Literature in 2013, and was a competing title in the 2013 edition of Canada Reads. It was adapted into a feature-length film, Indian Horse (2017), directed by Stephen Campanelli and released after Wagamese's death.

Né en 1955 en Ontario, il a exercé dans différents domaines dont le journalisme et la production pour la radio et la télévision. Il est auteur de 13 livres traduits en anglais pour différents éditeurs du Canada anglophone. Appartenant à la nation Ojibwés, il est le premier Autochtone d'Amérique à gagner un prix national en tant que journaliste et également lauréat du Conseil Canadien des Arts (prix 1993). (fr)
