Riga Sports Palace (Latvian: Rīgas Sporta pils) was an ice hockey arena in Riga, Latvia. It was built in 1970 with 4,500 permanent seats with a total capacity of 5,500 including room for 500 standing spectators. In the 1970s and 1980s, it was the home arena for the renowned ice hockey club Dinamo Riga and also frequently hosted figure skating, basketball, and tennis events. Rīgas Sporta Pils was demolished in 2007.

| - Der Rīgas Sporta pils, auch Rīga Sports Palace (wortwörtliche Übersetzung Rigas Schloss des Sports), war eine Eishalle in der lettischen Hauptstadt Riga. Sie wurde 1970 eröffnet und bot 5.500 Zuschauern Platz (5.000 Sitzplätze und 500 Stehplätze). Von der Eröffnung der Eishalle bis 1995 war sie Heimspielstätte der Eishockeymannschaft Dinamo Riga. Der Gebäudekomplex umfasst weitere Trainingshallen und Eisflächen, in denen regelmäßig Eiskunstlauf betrieben sowie Basketball und Tennis gespielt wurde. Über viele Jahre war einer der Stars des lettischen Eishockeys, Helmuts Balderis, Manager der Eishalle. Von 1991 bis 2006 wurde die Eishalle für alle Heimspiele der lettischen Eishockeynationalmannschaft genutzt. Da es in den 1990er-Jahren keine anderen Eishallen in Lettland gab, wurden alle Spiele der lettischen Eishockeyliga hier ausgetragen. Seit dem Bau weiterer Arenen, vor allem vor der Eishockey-Weltmeisterschaft 2006, zog die Nationalmannschaft in die Riga Arena und viele Clubs in neuere Eishallen um, so dass nur noch die Mannschaft HK Vilki OP Riga ihre Heimspiele hier austrug. Der Besitzer des Gebäudes, die aus Estland, plante 2007, die Eishalle zu renovieren und um sie herum eine neue Infrastruktur mit Wohnhäusern, Geschäften, Büros und Hotels zu schaffen. Allerdings gab es auch Medienberichte, wonach die Eishalle abgerissen werden sollte. Im Frühjahr 2008 begann der Abbruch des Gebäudes, das über viele Jahre den Eishockeysport in Lettland maßgeblich bestimmt hat. (de)

From 1990 until 2006 it was the home to the Latvian national ice hockey team and until end of the 1990s was host of almost all Latvian Hockey League teams. However, since 2006 Latvian national ice hockey team has been played its home games in the 10,300-seat Arena Riga that was built to host the 2006 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships. Chief of arena for long term was legendary ice hockey player Helmuts Balderis. The last owner of arena announced his plans to renew the arena and area near arena (starting at summer 2007). His aim was to make it more suitable for residential and commercial needs – to build flats, offices, hotels and keep renewed ice hall itself. Rīgas Sporta Pils was demolished in 2007. (en)
