Robert Alden Cornog (July 7, 1912 – July 17, 1998) was a physicist and engineer who helped develop the atomic bomb and missile systems, and made significant discoveries regarding isotopes of hydrogen and helium. A native of Portland, Oregon, who grew up in Iowa City, Cornog earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Iowa. After working for the United States Bureau of Reclamation on the Boulder Dam design, he studied at UC Berkeley for his doctorate in physics.

Codécouvreur avec Luis Alvarez du tritium et de l'hélium 3, il a également participé avec Emilio Segrè à la découverte de l'élément 85, l'astatine. Au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il participe au Manhattan Project et devient ingénieur en chef du département des armes.
