- Salvatore Pincherle (Trieste, 11 de març de 1853 - Bolonya, 10 de juliol de 1936) va ser un matemàtic italià, professor de la universitat de Bolonya i un dels més prominents fundadors de l'anàlisi funcional. El curs 1877-1878 va prendre un any sabàtic per anar a ampliar estudis a la universitat de Berlín. El 1880 va ser nomenat professor d'anàlisi i geometria de la universitat de Palerm, però sense acabar el curs és transferit a la universitat de Bolonya en la qual va romandre fins que es va retirar el 1928. - Salvatore Pincherle (* 11. März 1853 in Triest; † 10. Juli 1936 in Bologna) war ein italienischer Mathematiker. Pincherle war der Sohn eines jüdischen Geschäftsmanns und verbrachte seine Kindheit in Marseille. Ab 1869 studierte er bei Enrico Betti und Ulisse Dini an der Universität Pisa. 1874 machte er seinen Abschluss und wurde Schullehrer in Pavia. Mit einem Stipendium studierte er 1877 weiter an der Universität Berlin bei Karl Weierstraß, der einen großen Einfluss auf ihn hatte und dessen Lehre er in Italien verbreitete (zuerst in einem Übersichtsartikel 1880 im Giornale di Matematiche, der in Italien einflussreich wurde). Von 1880 bis 1928 war er Professor an der Universität Bologna, nachdem er 1880 für wenige Monate Professor in Palermo war. 1922 gründete er in Bologna die Unione Mate (de)
- Salvatore Pincherle (March 11, 1853 – July 10, 1936) was an Italian mathematician. He contributed significantly to (and arguably helped to found) the field of functional analysis, established the Italian Mathematical Union (Italian: "Unione Matematica Italiana"), and was president of the Third International Congress of Mathematicians. The Pincherle derivative is named after him. In honor of the centenary of his birth, the Italian Mathematical Union edited a selection of 62 of his notes and treatises; they were published in 1954 in Rome. (en)
