- Sedulius Scotus or Scottus (fl. 840–860) was an Irish teacher, Latin grammarian, and scriptural commentator who lived in the 9th century. During the reign of the Emperor Lothair (840–855), he was one of a colony of Irish teachers at Liège. Sedulius is sometimes called Sedulius the Younger, to distinguish him from Coelius Sedulius (a 5th-century poet). The usual Irish form of the name is Siadhal, but he appears to have been called Suadbar. It is quite probable that towards the end of his days he went to Milan, following the example of his countryman Dungal, who established a school at Pavia. When and where he died is unknown. (en)

- Sedulius Scotus was een Ierse leraar, grammaticus en bijbelcommentator uit de negende eeuw. Sedulius wordt soms Sedulius de Jongere genoemd, om hem te onderscheiden van Coelius Sedulius, waarschijnlijk ook een Ier, de auteur van het Carmen Paschale ('Paaslied') en andere gewijde gedichten. De Ierse vorm van zijn naam is Siadhal. Sedulius de Jongere beleefde zijn bloeiperiode tussen 840 en 860. In totaal worden er tussen de jaren 785 en 855 zes Siadhals vermeld in de Annalen van de Vier Meesters. - Seduli Escot (en llatí, Sedulius Scottus) fou un poesta, filòsof i classicista irlandès del segle IX. En la seva formació, el seu país natal, s'hi inclou el llatí i potser ja el grec, del qual tenia un bon coneixement quan era a Lieja. A partir de la dècada de 840 s'instal·là a Lieja, sota la protecció del bisbe Hartgar, a la mort del qual dedicà un plany, i del seu successor Francó de Tongeren. Allà hi feu també de copista de manuscrits. Se li ha atribuït, sense seguretat, el poema Pangur Bán. (ca)

Nie są znane żadne bliższe informacje na temat jego życia, dokładne miejsce pochodzenia ani powody opuszczenia Irlandii. Do Francji przybył w towarzystwie dwóch współbraci w latach 40. IX wieku. Osiadł w Leodium, gdzie zdaniem niektórych wykładał w tamtejszej szkole. W 850 roku odwiedził Kolonię, być może przebywał także w Metzu i w Italii. Brak jakichkolwiek informacji na jego temat po 858 roku. (pl)
