Si*Sé is a downtempo and electronic group from New York City. The main members of the band are Carol C (vocals, DJ) and Cliff Cristofaro (producer). Other members of the band include Ryan Farley (drums), Neil Ochoa (percussion) and Morgan Phillips (Bass). Jeannie Oliver was the viola player during the first two albums, but left the band in 2005. Olivia Martinez (viola) and Tarrah Reynolds (violin) have also played in place of Jeannie over the years. They rose to prominence in 2001, on a worldwide tour with David Byrne. They have also performed with Norah Jones, Kinky, Kraftwerk, Los Amigos Invisibles, Gotan Project, James Brown, Julieta Venegas, Cesaria Evora, and Natacha Atlas.

Carol C und Cliff Cristofaro lernten sich Anfang 2000 über ihren gemeinsamen Freund und späteren Manager Hector Batista kennen. Nachdem sie einige Monate lang musikalisch experimentiert und ein Demotape aufgenommen hatten, beschlossen sie die Elektro-Sounds durch reale Instrumente zu ergänzen und zusammen mit befreundeten Musikern eine Band zu gründen. Der Sound von SiSé lässt sich als Downbeat-Elektro mit Anleihen aus Hip-Hop und Latin beschreiben, dessen tragendes Element die Stimme von Sängerin Carol C, die sowohl auf Englisch als auch auf Spanisch singt, ist. Nachdem sie zunächst in diversen New Yorker Clubs spielten wurden Luaka Bop Records auf SiSé aufmerksam, worauf dort 2001 ihr erstes Album SiSé veröffentlicht wurde.
