- The Birds of America (Las aves de América en español) es un libro del naturalista y pintor John James Audubon que contiene ilustraciones de una gran variedad de aves de América del Norte. Cada impresión fue pintada a mano por Audubon, y representa una especie de ave en sus dimensiones naturales. Esta opción de usar la escala 1:1 obligó a representar las especies más grandes en posiciones extrañas. El 6 de diciembre de 2010 una copia completa de la primera edición se vendió en la casa de subastas Sotheby's en Londres por £ 7,321,250 (aproximadamente 11,5 millones de dólares).

- The Birds of America is a book by naturalist and painter John James Audubon, containing illustrations of a wide variety of birds of the United States. It was first published as a series in sections between 1827 and 1838, in Edinburgh and London. Not all of the specimens illustrated in the work were collected by Audubon himself; some were sent to him by John Kirk Townsend, who had collected them on Nathaniel Jarvis Wyeth's 1834 expedition with Thomas Nuttall. Tła dla rysunków ptaków wykonała Maria Martin Bachman. Po raz pierwszy opublikowano ją jako serię wydawniczą między 1827 a 1838 rokiem. Oryginały wszystkich 435 znanych ilustracji Johna Jamesa Audubona przechowywane są w New-York Historical Society w Nowym Jorku. - The Birds of America (As Aves da América em língua portuguesa) é um livro de ilustrações de John James Audubon dedicado ao tema das aves da América do Norte. A primeira edição foi feita num esquema de fascículos entregues por subscrição ao longo de doze anos. Apesar do preço exorbitante, a obra foi muito popular na sociedade vitoriana, apaixonada pelo mundo natural. O rei Jorge IV do Reino Unido foi um dos subscritores e um fã incondicional da arte de Audubon. (pt)

Печатался частями в Эдинбурге и Лондоне с 1827 по 1838 год. Иллюстрации альбома содержат изображения 1065 птиц, относящихся к 489 различным видам. «Птицы Америки» продавались по подписке номерами по 5 изображений в каждом: одно большое, одно среднее и три маленьких. Планировалось, согласно проекту альбома, сформировать четыре тома по сто страниц, однако количество птиц превысило эти объёмы, и в итоге альбом составили 435 страниц, при этом последние страницы часто содержат несколько птиц разных видов.
