The Dream of the Blue Turtles is the first solo album by English musician Sting, released in June 1985. The album reached number three on the UK Albums Chart and number two on the US Billboard 200. Five singles were released from the album: "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free," "Fortress Around Your Heart," "Russians," "Moon Over Bourbon Street," and "Love Is the Seventh Wave". The album earned Grammy nominations for Album of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Jazz Instrumental Performance and Best Engineered Recording.

  • ブルー・タートルの夢(The Dream of the Blue Turtles)は、スティングのアルバム。 ポリスが活動休止となり、翌1985年に発表されたこの作品は、ジャズやクラシックにおけるスティングの音楽的才能が如実に表現されている。また、ポリスのメンバーとしてではなく、世界の、時にポリスとは対照的な音楽を志向している事を証明しようとする欲求が垣間見える。アルバムには、冷戦を批判した「ラシアンズ」、「チルドレンズ・クルセイド」や「黒い傷あと」などのような強烈な政治的メッセージを含む曲もある。また、ソロ初ヒット曲「セット・ゼム・フリー」や、ポリス時代の曲をジャズ調にアレンジした「シャドウズ・イン・ザ・レイン」（オリジナルは、アルバム『ゼニヤッタ・モンダッタ』に収録）も収録されている。 このアルバムにジャズ界の大御所が参加しているのもあってか、ポリス時代から慣れ親しんだベースからギターにチェンジしている。ちなみにベースは、後述のようにダリル・ジョーンズが担当。 (ja)
