- أسرار أودولفو، (بالإنجليزية: The Mysteries of Udolpho) هي الرواية الرابعة بقلم آن رادكليف، ونشرت في أربعة مجلدات في 8 مايو 1794 بواسطة جي جي وجاي روبنسون في لندن. دفعت لها الشركة 500 جنيه مقابل المخطوطة. ويقع العقد الآن في مكتبة جامعة فرجينيا. تتبع الرواية مغامرات إميلي سانت أوبيرت التي تواجه عدة مشاكل، مثل وفاة والدها، والرعب في قلعة مظلمة، ومكائد قاطع طريق إيطالي. تعتبر هذه القصة من الأنماط الأولى للرواية القوطية، إلى جانب رواية رادكليف الأخرى حكاية الغابة، ولعبت دورا بارزا في إلهام جين أوستن لروايتها دير نورثانجر، حيث ترى شابة حساسة أصدقاءها ومعارفها على شكل أشرار وضحايا قوطيين بعد قراءتها لرواية رادكليف. - Udolphos Geheimnisse, Originaltitel The Mysteries of Udolpho, 1794 von Ann Radcliffe (1764–1823), zählt zu den berühmtesten, englischen Schauerromanen. Das Genre, welches auch als Gothic Fiction bekannt ist, entspricht am ehesten der literarischen Strömung Schwarze Romantik. Im Bereich der „Gothic Romance“ inspirierte Radcliffe mit ihrer weiblichen Heldin, der es gelingt, sich gegen einen mächtigen, aber moralisch unterlegenen Gegner durchzusetzen, darüber hinaus ein modernes Frauenbild. Daher wird sie im englischen Sprachraum zu den wichtigen Mitbegründerinnen des „Gothic Feminism“ gezählt.Der Schauplatz, ein halb verfallenes, verwinkelt angelegtes Schloss im Apennin weist deutliche Parallelen zu Horace Walpoles Hauptschauplatz bei seinem Schloss von Otranto (1765) auf. Her fourth and most popular novel, The Mysteries of Udolpho tells of Emily St. Aubert, who suffers misadventures that include the death of her mother and father, supernatural terrors in a gloomy castle, and machinations of an Italian brigand. Often cited as the archetypal Gothic novel, The Mysteries of Udolpho appears prominently in Jane Austen's 1817 novel Northanger Abbey, where an impressionable young woman reader comes to see friends and acquaintances as Gothic villains and victims, with amusing results.
