The Walking Dead: The Ride (formerly known as X:\ No Way Out and X) is an indoor roller coaster located at Thorpe Park, England. It was the park's first non-powered roller-coaster. It was themed around a rave and had the strapline "Ride on a wave of light and sound" — when it was titled X — but currently The Walking Dead: The Ride's slogan is "Those who ride, survive". The X roller coaster combined a variety of lights, lasers and music with a completely indoor ride circuit, featured inside a large blue and terracotta pyramid structure.

Die Bahn wurde als erste rückwärts fahrende Achterbahn im Dunkeln beworben und nach der Idee thematisiert, als würde man in einem Computervirus festsitzen. Dazu wurde sie im Themenbereich Lost City in einem pyramidenförmigen Wellblechgebäude untergebracht. Ursprünglich besaß sie auch eine Menge an Thematisierung, diese wurde allerdings im Laufe der Jahre zum größten Teil entfernt. Nach dem Powered Coaster Flying Fish war sie bei der Eröffnung 1996 die erste „klassische“ Achterbahn des Parks. The Walking Dead – The Ride besitzt fünf Züge mit jeweils fünf Wagen. In jedem Wagen können zwei Personen (eine Reihe) Platz nehmen. Für Ein- und Ausstieg besitzt die Bahn getrennte Stationen. Nach dem Einsteigen wird der Zug von einem Reibradlift auf 12,7 Meter Höhe befördert. Auf der folgenden 400 Meter langen Strecke hält der Zug dreimal für jeweils ungefähr 15 Sekunden an, was Teil der erzählten Geschichte sein soll. Trotz der relativ kurzen Strecke benötigt der Zug so zwei Minuten für die komplette Fahrt. Pro Stunde können theoretisch 1000 Personen mit der Achterbahn fahren. Unter Achterbahnfans ist die Bahn aufgrund der schlechten Fahreigenschaften und der nur mäßig wahrnehmbaren Thematisierung eher wenig beliebt und findet sich bei den jährlichen Abstimmungen zu den besten Stahlachterbahnen (Steel Coaster Poll) regelmäßig auf einem der letzten Plätze. On 1 December 2017, plans to drastically change the entrance of the attraction were filed. The name "X:\ NWO WD" written on the documents sparked rumours of a The Walking Dead re-theme. On 20 February 2018, it was announced that the ride was to become The Walking Dead: The Ride. On 27 March 2018, Thorpe Park announced that the ride would open on 31 March 2018. The ride (Along with Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise Of The Demon was closed during the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was due to the inability to social distance with the attraction being indoors. It re-opened for the 2021 season on 17 May. (en)
