trixbox (formerly Asterisk@Home) was a software PBX based on Asterisk. trixbox was initially released under the name Asterisk@Home. In October 2006 it was renamed to trixbox after Digium requested that its developers cease the use of the word "Asterisk"; the renaming was further justified by the fact that the product at that time consisted of much more than just Asterisk.

Zawiera nie tylko preinstalowany Asterisk, lecz także liczne narzędzia ułatwiające rozpoczęcie pracy z systemem oraz wspomagające zarządzanie nim. Podczas korzystania z Trixboksa sama znajomość systemu Linux nie jest wymagana, chociaż zalecana. Dołączone narzędzia takie jak FreePBX umożliwiają bowiem zarządzanie Asteriskiem z poziomu przeglądarki internetowej. Trixbox obsługuje trzy protokoły VoIP: H.323, SIP oraz IAX. (pl)

El paquete trixbox incluye muchas características que antes sólo estaban disponibles en caros sistemas propietarios como creación de extensiones, envío de mensajes de voz a correo electrónico, llamadas en conferencia, menús de voz interactivos y distribución automática de llamadas. Trixbox, al ser un software de código abierto, posee varios beneficios, como es la creación de nuevas funcionalidades. Algo muy importante es que no sólo soporta conexión a la telefonía tradicional, sino que también ofrece servicios VoIP -voz sobre IP-, permitiendo así ahorros muy significativos en el coste de las llamadas internacionales, dado que éstas no son realizadas por la línea telefónica tradicional, sino que utilizan Internet. W pierwszym przypadku zawartość obrazu ISO trzeba wypalić na płycie CD, uruchomić z niej komputer, a następnie zainstalować Trixboksa na dysku twardym. W drugim przypadku nie musimy tego robić, ponieważ cały system jest uruchamiany w wirtualnym wstępnie skonfigurowanym środowisku, idealnym do testów. (pl)
