The University City of the National University of San Marcos (acronym: CU-UNMSM), generally known as the University City of Lima or simply University City, is the main campus of the National University of San Marcos and is located in Lima District. In the University City of San Marcos are located the main administrative facilities of the university, such as the rectory. It is home to 17 of the 20 faculties of the University of San Marcos, the central library, the San Marcos University Stadium, the university gymnasium, the dining room of the "University City" and one of the university residences.   • La Ciudad Universitaria de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (siglas: CU-UNMSM), conocida simplemente Ciudad Universitaria, es el campus principal de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Es además el punto focal de la avenida Universitaria por darle a esta su nombre y por ser el punto desde el cual esta vía se expande tanto hacia el Norte como al Sur. Sus principales entradas se ubican a en la av. Universitaria, la av. Venezuela, la av. Germán Amézaga y la av. Óscar R. Benavides —ex av. Colonial—, en el distrito de Lima. Fue inaugurado a fines de la década de los 50, para albergar a los alumnos, debido a la sobrepoblación estudiantil creciente que acaecía sobre la Casona, que fue la antigua sede del claustro universitario. En la Ciudad Universitaria se ubican las principales instalaciones administrativas de la universidad, como el Rectorado. También es sede de diecisiete de sus veinte facultades, la Biblioteca Central, el Estadio de la Universidad de San Marcos, el Gimnasio Universitario, el Comedor Universitario de una de las residencias universitarias. Además, incluye el complejo arqueológico de la huaca San Marcos, que es preservada y estudiada por alumnos e investigadores sanmarquinos. (es)
