The press is situated at the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. The press has an independent editorial board of writers, scientists, historians, and other experts who are responsible for manuscript solicitation, review, and selection. An executive editor and small staff also solicit manuscripts, and additional reviewers determine suitability and weakness in manuscripts. As of 2005, the UA Press has published more than 110 titles. It produces four series:
