VeriFace is a face recognition software package developed by Lenovo, and was the first face verification technology available on a public computer. Instead of passwords, VeriFace identifies users by matching unique features of individual faces to photographs taken by the 1.3-megapixel webcam. It was reported that the version available in 2009 could be fooled by holding up a photograph of the individual in front of the webcam, and therefore offers only limited security in the default configuration.
