Dopo alcune esperienze nel campo della musica e della moda, raggiunge la notorietà nel 1979 con il singolo Comprami, disco che in pochi mesi vende mezzo milione di copie. Il successo prosegue con i singoli Sei una bomba, Sera coi fiocchi (1980) e Giorno popolare (1981), e raggiunge il culmine con il lancio del brano Sola, tratto dal film Delitto sull'autostrada, a cui partecipa in qualità di attrice al fianco di Tomas Milian. Nello stesso anno partecipa anche al Festival di Sanremo con Romantici, altro brano di grande riscontro commerciale (400 000 copie vendute); l'esperienza sanremese si ripete anche nel 1983, ma stavolta senza troppa fortuna.
