Gordon was formerly (1975–96) was one of five local government districts inthe Grampian region of Scotland. The district was formed by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 from part of the former county of Aberdeenshire, namely: * The burghs of: * Ellon * Huntly * Inverurie * Kintore * Oldmeldrum * The districts of Garioch and Huntly * part of the Aberdeen district The district was abolished in 1996 by the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994, with its area being included in the unitary Aberdeenshire council area.
