John Montgomery (probably February 29, 1788 – October 31, 1879) owned the tavern which served as a base for the rebels during the Upper Canada Rebellion. His establishment was the site of the Battle of Montgomery's Tavern. Now the location of a post office, the site of Montgomery's Tavern was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1925.
