Wisconsin, located well inland in North America, is infrequently affected by the remnants of tropical cyclones impacting in the southern United States. It has never been directly impacted by the full effects of a hurricane. Since 1851, when reliable records for the North Atlantic hurricane basin began, no cyclones have traversed the state while retaining tropical characteristics.
