Throughout former French prime minister and President Charles De Gaulle’s life, his popularity and influence earned him a series of different names and terms of address used to refer to him. Because of his political character, often regarded as controversial, these terms and names tend to reflect the feelings of the speaker towards Gaulle, whether that be of sympathy, respect, or scorn.
