В этом году основное количество запусков было произведено странами-членами «профсоюза космических извозчиков» (США, Россия, Китай, Япония, Индия) и международным консорциумом «Арианспейс». Бразилия безуспешно пыталась запустить свою ракету-носитель «VLC» и не смогла войти в число стран, имеющих свои средства выведения. Кроме Бразилии, в этом году США и Россия произвели два аварийных запуска, при которых полезная нагрузка была полностью потеряна. В целом на фоне 1996 года аварийность снизилась. Cette page présente une chronologie des événements qui se sont produits pendant l'année 1997 dans le domaine de l'astronautique. 1997 год стал сороковым годом космической эры. В этом году основное количество запусков было произведено странами-членами «профсоюза космических извозчиков» (США, Россия, Китай, Япония, Индия) и международным консорциумом «Арианспейс». Бразилия безуспешно пыталась запустить свою ракету-носитель «VLC» и не смогла войти в число стран, имеющих свои средства выведения.
