Cara Mía Theatre Co. is a Dallas-based company founded in 1996 by Adelina Anthony and Eliberto Gonzalez. It is dedicated to highlighting the Latino American experience in the United States through theatrical productions and educational programs. It started as a Chicano/a theatre to tell the stories of Mexican Americans on Dallas stages and make Latino literature more accessible. Currently, the company produces approximately 4-5 pieces each year, from classic Latino literature to new works by Latino writers, including Sandra Cisneros, Jimmy Santiago Baca, and Cherrie Morraga. Some successful past productions include Zoot Suit and Deferred Action, which went on tour as a result of its popularity.
