Den har en liten nos och påminner i kroppen om en tumlare. Men dess beteende är helt klart delfinens. Både honor och hanar blir könsmogna vid ungefär samma ålder, mellan 6 och 9 år. Parningssäsongen är någon gång på våren och tidig sommar och dräktigheten varar i 11 månader. Commersons delfiner blir inte så gamla, den äldsta individen man känner till dog vid 18 års ålder. Es troba en dues àrees diferents: * Al voltant de la Terra del Foc i les illes Malvines. * Al voltant de les illes Kerguelen. イロワケイルカ（色分海豚、Cephalorhynchus commersonii）は、クジラ目ハクジラ亜目マイルカ科イロワケイルカ属（セッパリイルカ属とも）に属するイルカである。見た目の印象がジャイアントパンダに似ているため、パンダイルカとも呼ばれる。 南アメリカ南端のフエゴ島およびフォークランド諸島周辺の海域、および、インド洋南部のケルゲレン諸島周辺の海域、二つの海域に棲息する。 種小名の commersonii、および、英名の Commerson's Dolphin はフランスの生物学者であるフィリベール・コメルソンに由来する。 De kortsnuitdolfijn of Commersons dolfijn (Cephalorhynchus commersonii) is een van de vier soorten dolfijnen uit het geslacht Cephalorhynchus. De wetenschappelijke naam is afgeleid van , die het dier als eerste beschreef in 1767, nabij de Straat Magellaan. Niet te verwarren met de gewone dolfijn (Delphinus delphis), die soms ook wel kortsnuitdolfijn wordt genoemd.
