El juego fue distribuido en 1984 para ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 y Amstrad. Se trata del primer juego de esta m\u00EDtica compa\u00F1\u00EDa que puede considerarse propiamente una \"videoaventura\", perfeccionando lo que ya hab\u00EDan esbozado en otro de sus grandes t\u00EDtulos Atic Atac. Se puede decir que Sabre Wulf inaugur\u00F3 un nuevo g\u00E9nero de videojuegos. En Sabre Wulf, aparece por primera vez , el h\u00E9roe creado por Ultimate Play The Game y que protagonizar\u00EDa la gran trilog\u00EDa de videoaventuras iniciada por Sabre Wulf y que continuar\u00EDa con Underwurlde y el grandioso Knight Lore. Seg\u00FAn las historia y leyendas que siempre rodearon a esta compa\u00F1\u00EDa y a sus creadores los hermanos Stamper, estos ten\u00EDan ya acabado Knight Lore, antes del lanzamiento de este primer t\u00EDtulo, pero retrasaron su salida por considerar que este juego era demasiado avanzado para la \u00E9poca y pod\u00EDa perjudicar las ventas de t\u00EDtulos como Sabre Wulf, no tan avanzados y de estructura m\u00E1s cl\u00E1sica. En el videojuego, nuestro protagonista, un aventurero, deber\u00E1 recorrer una laber\u00EDntica selva en busca de las cuatro partes de un amuleto. Armado con una espada deber\u00E1 hacer frente a los numerosos enemigos que encontrar\u00E1 a su paso. La mayor\u00EDa ser\u00E1n f\u00E1cilmente eliminables con la espada, si bien hay otros como hipop\u00F3tamos y rinocerontes a los que solo podemos hacer cambiar de direcci\u00F3n. Nuestro h\u00E9roe debe ser r\u00E1pido, ya que si permanecemos mucho tiempo en una misma pantalla, una mortal llama nos perseguir\u00E1. Como elementos de ayuda nuestro h\u00E9roe contar\u00E1 con unas flores que aparecen en las diferentes pantallas del mapeado y que le har\u00E1n invulnerable o m\u00E1s veloz de forma temporal. En la parte superior del mapeado, junto a las monta\u00F1as se encuentra el lobo \"Wulf\", enemigo temible y del que solo podemos huir, si no queremos tener una horrible muerte. Una vez recogidos las partes del amuleto, deber\u00E1 dirigirse a una cueva para terminar su aventura, el juego presenta adem\u00E1s la dificultad de que la ubicaci\u00F3n de las partes del amuleto son aleatorias en cada partida.
