- The 1985 Portuguese legislative election took place on 6 October. The election renewed all 250 members of the Assembly of the Republic. In June of the same year, the then incumbent Prime Minister, Mário Soares, resigned from the job due to the lack of parliamentary support, the government was composed by a coalition of the two major parties, the center-right Social Democratic and the center-left Socialist, in what was called the Central Bloc, however this was an unstable balance of forces and several members of each party opposed such alliance. - Die Parlamentswahl in Portugal 1985 fand am 6. Oktober statt. Die Wahlen waren notwendig geworden, da es innerhalb der politisch der Rechten Mitte zugehörigen Sozialdemokratische Partei Portugals zu wachsenden Spannungen und Auseinandersetzungen gekommen war. - As eleições legislativas portuguesas de 1985 foram realizadas no dia 6 de outubro de 1985. Estas eleições foram antecipadas após Mário Soares, primeiro-ministro entre 1983 a 1985, apresentar a sua demissão após o PSD romper o Bloco Central com o PS. Cavaco Silva, o novo líder do PSD, era um forte crítico de tal solução governativa e rompeu com tal coligação após ser eleito presidente do partido. O PS, liderado por Almeida Santos, obtinha o seu pior resultado de sempre em eleições nacionais ao ficar-se pelos 20,8% dos votos e perdendo mais de 40 deputados em relação a 1983. (pt)
