- L'Armata del Tennessee fu un'Armata unionista, operativa sul fronte occidentale della Guerra di secessione americana, così chiamata a causa del fiume Tennessee. Non deve essere confusa con l'omonima Armata Confederata così chiamata per via del nome dello Stato del Tennessee. L'Armata del Tennessee fu composta da divisioni del Distretto di Cairo, Dipartimento del Missouri, chiamato perciò Armata del Tennessee Occidentale e in seguito Armata del Tennessee. Ulysses S. Grant comandò questa Armata sotto i suoi tre diversi nomi appena dopo lo scoppio della guerra fino alla sua vittoria a Vicksburg nel 1863. Nie powinna być mylona z bardzo podobnie nazwaną konfederacką . Armia Tennessee składała się z dywizji z okręgu Cairo, Departamentu Missouri, przemianowana na Armię Zachodniego Tennessee, a następnie znów na Armię Tennessee. Ulysses S. Grant dowodził tą armią o trzech nazwach niemal od początku wojny aż do zwycięstwa pod Vicksburgiem w 1863 roku. Od 16 października 1863 roku Armia podlegała Wydziałowi Wojskowemu Missisipi. Pod dowództwem kolejnych generałów walczyła od Chattanoogi, poprzez Georgię i obie Karoliny aż po koniec wojny. (pl)

- The Army of the Tennessee was a Union army in the Western Theater of the American Civil War, named for the Tennessee River. It appears that the term "Army of the Tennessee" was first used within the Union Army in March 1862, to describe Union forces perhaps more properly described as the "Army of West Tennessee"; these were the troops under the command of Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant in the Union's District of West Tennessee. In April 1862, Grant's troops survived a severe test in the bloody Battle of Shiloh.
