The Battle of Dathin (Arabic: داثن) was a battle during the Arab–Byzantine Wars between the Rashidun Caliphate and the Byzantine Empire in February 634, but became very famous in the literature of the period. According to the near-contemporary Doctrina Jacobi nuper baptizati, the Muslim victory was celebrated by the local Jews, who had been a persecuted minority within the Roman Empire.

| - كانت معركة داثن معركة صغيرة من الحروب البيزنطية المسلمة بين جيش الخلافة الراشدة والحلفاء المسيحيين من الامبراطورية البيزنطية في 13هـ. لكن أصبحت مشهورة جدا في الأدب في تلك الفترة. تعجيل المعركة كان بسبب الغارات العربية حول غزة. القائد البيزنطي سرجيوس جهز جيشا صغيرا نحو 300 جندي. قادهم من قاعدته في قيسارية إلى جوار غزة (نحو 125 كيلو متر) ضد القوة المسلمة التي لا تقل عن ألف جندي بقيادة يزيد بن أبي سفيان. واجتمعت القوى المعارضة في قرية داثن في 4 فبراير، 634 م. وليس بعيدا من قطاع غزة، هزم البيزنطيون، وهزمت القوات وقتل سرجيوس.

- Die Schlacht von Dathin war eine kleinere Schlacht zwischen dem Islamischen Kalifat und den christlichen Verbündeten des Oströmischen Reichs im Februar 634, die gleichwohl einen großen Widerhall in der zeitgenössischen Literatur fand. Der Schlacht war ein arabischer Überfall auf das Umland von Gaza vorausgegangen. Der oströmische (Dux und Candidatus) Sergius versammelte ein kleines Truppenkontingent (das Ostreich litt zu dieser Zeit unter Truppenmangel), es könnten vielleicht nur 300 Soldaten gewesen sein, während die arabische Expeditionsarmee über eintausend Mann stark war und von geführt wurde.
