Christ in the winepress or the mystical winepress is a motif in Christian iconography showing Christ standing in a winepress, where Christ himself becomes the grapes in the press. It derives from the interpretation by Augustine and other early theologians of a group of passages in the Bible and is found as a visual image in Christian art between about 1100 and the 18th century, as well as in religious literature of many kinds. The image in art underwent a number of changes of emphasis, while remaining fairly consistent in its basic visual content, and was one of the relatively few medieval metaphorical or allegorical devotional images to maintain a foothold in Protestant iconography after the Reformation.

Jahrhundert aufgekommenes Motiv der christlichen Ikonographie. Dargestellt wird Christus bei der Arbeit in einer Weinkelter, wobei der ausfließende gewonnene Wein als Blut Christi von einem Kelch aufgefangen wird. Die Darstellung erfolgt in allegorischer Aufnahme biblischer Aussagen wie des Propheten Jesaja: Diese alttestamentliche Anspielung wurde christologisch verbunden mit dem eschatologischen Hinweis der Apokalypse: Als weiteres Element spielt der Segen Jakobs über Juda hinein: (de) Cristo en el lagar, lagar de Cristo o lagar místico (en latín torculus Christi) son denominaciones de una alegoría y forma de representación de Jesucristo en la que su sangre sale de sus llagas y se mezcla con el zumo de las uvas que se prensan en un lagar (una prensa de vino) y que se recoge en un cáliz. El propio cuerpo de Cristo se representa inclinado, como prensado en el lagar; y a veces se sustituye la prensa por una cruz que oprime el cuerpo de Cristo. La escena tiene una evidente interpretación sacrificial y sacramental (la sangre de Cristo es el vino de la eucaristía), y además de ella, se alude a la condición de la Iglesia como cuerpo místico, aquí identificado con la vid (que también se representa muchas veces): Cristo es la cepa y los cristianos, sus discípulos, los sarmientos.
