Dame Daphne Marjorie Sheldrick, DBE (née Jenkins; 4 June 1934 – 12 April 2018) was a Kenyan of British descent, author, conservationist and expert in animal husbandry, particularly the raising and reintegrating of orphaned elephants into the wild for over 30 years. She was the founder of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Ze was de oprichter van een olifantenopvang voor verweesde jonge dieren en van twee rehabilitatiecentra, van waaruit de jonge dieren voorbereid worden om weer in het wild uitgezet te worden. April 2018) war die Gründerin einer Elefanten-Aufzuchtstation für verwaiste Jungtiere sowie zweier Rehabilitations-Zentren, von denen aus die Jungtiere wieder an das Leben in der Wildnis gewöhnt werden. In den 1970er Jahren gelang ihr einer der größten und wichtigsten Erfolge in der künstlichen Fütterung von Jungelefanten. Da Elefanten keine Kuhmilch als Ersatznahrung vertragen, war es lange Zeit unmöglich, verwaiste Jungtiere am Leben zu erhalten. Daphne Sheldrick entwickelte eine spezielle Milchmischung mit pflanzlichem Fett. (de)
