DiscT@2 (read as "disc tattoo") is a method of writing text and graphics to the data side of a CD-R or DVD disc first introduced by Yamaha in 2002. While often compared with the later LabelFlash and LightScribe technologies, which also offered users consumer-grade computerized disc labeling, DiscT@2 is different in that it required no proprietary media and wrote the graphics to the data side of the disc.

Apparue en 2002 avec le graveur de CD CRW-F1, cette technique n'a depuis pas été reconduite sur d'autres modèles de graveurs de CD mais a été adaptée plus tard sur des graveurs de DVD Pioneer et NEC. - DiscT@2 (pronuncia "disc tattoo") è una tecnologia introdotta dalla Yamaha che permette all'utente di masterizzare motivi personalizzati o immagini sullo spazio libero del lato dati di un CD-R usando un drive del marchio Yamaha o uno compatibile.Il sistema LabelFlash di NEC (che è un'implementazione del DiscT@2) incorpora la stessa funzione di incisione del lato dati (solo per i DVD però) oltre alla possibilità di incidere anche il lato etichetta, mentre la tecnologia LightScribe di Hewlett-Packard non permette la serigrafia sul lato dati. Yamaha cessò la produzione di masterizzatori nel 2003. (it)

| - DiscT@2 (für „Disc Tattoo“ – vgl. Leetspeak) ist eine von Yamaha entwickelte Technik, um CDs auf der Datenseite zu beschriften. Hierzu wird in den unverwendeten Bereich der CD (äußerer Rand) ein beliebiges Muster gebrannt. Das „Bild“ entsteht dann durch den Kontrastunterschied zwischen „beschriftet“ und „unbeschriftet“. Das Verfahren funktioniert grundsätzlich mit allen CD-Arten, wobei ein Bild aber nur sichtbar ist, wenn der Kontrastunterschied groß genug ist. Die älteren CD-Rs, die ganz dunkelgrün (Cyanin) oder dunkelblau (Azo) waren, funktionierten am besten. Die einzigen CD-R, die heutzutage noch mit Cyanin oder Azo hergestellt werden, kommen von Taiyo Yuden (Plextor, Verbatim Pastel Disc) und Mitsubishi (Verbatim DataLifePlus). Ein aufgeklebtes Label oder klassischer CD-Druck (direkt im Drucker) war zusätzlich immer noch möglich. Das einzige Laufwerk, welches diese Technik verwendete, war das Yamaha CRW-F1. Die Technik wurde weiterentwickelt, von NEC lizenziert und ist unter dem Namen Labelflash für DVD-Brenner auf den Markt gekommen. (de)

Fue introducida por Yamaha Corp. cuyo primer lanzamiento fue en el 2002, con la unidad de reescritura CRW-F1 CD. DiscT@2 empleaba el láser de la unidad para escribir texto y gráficos sencillos, pero debido a la larga demora del proceso de estampado y que sus imágenes tipo hologramas apenas eran visibles en discos azul oscuro nunca tuvo éxito. Yamaha abandonó el mercado de grabadores de CD y DVD en el año 2003. Fue el antecesor del LightScribe de HP. (es)

Przed rozpoczęciem „nadrukowywania" należy zamknąć sesję nagrywania płyty. Etykieta dysku jest umieszczana na zewnętrznym w stosunku do wcześniej umieszczonych danych obszarze nośnika. Nadruki są , a ich kolor i wyrazistość są uzależnione od rodzaju zastosowanej płyty. Zaletą tej technologii jest to, że nie wymaga specjalnego rodzaju płyt CD-R. Do głównych wad można zaliczyć nieprzystosowanie do nośników wielokrotnego zapisu, a także zmniejszenie się obszaru, na którym można umieszczać dane. Istnieje tu prosta zależność - im więcej danych zostanie zapisanych na płycie, tym mniej miejsca pozostaje na umieszczenie etykiety.Technologia DiscT@2 została pierwszy raz zaimplementowana w programie Nero Burning ROM w wersji 5.5.8.13. DiscT@2 jest typowym przykładem „spóźnionej" technologii. Jej wprowadzenie na rynek nastąpiło w okresie kiedy dyski CD-R bazujące na podłożu cyjaniny (w kolorze ciemnoniebieskim), na których nadruk był najlepiej widoczny, zaczęły być wypierane przez znacznie tańsze nośniki z barwnikiem opartym na pochodnych ftalocyjaniny (bladoniebieskie i bladozielone). Na płytach w kolorach złotym i srebrnym napisy wykonane tą technologią są prawie niewidoczne. (pl)
